This week was pure chaos in the best way. I started framing the foundation for my off-grid straw bale house, and the straw bales finally arrived — which somehow made everything feel very real and very overwhelming all at once. I’m learning every step of this process as I go, figuring out how to build a home with my own two hands out here in the middle of the high desert. Between long days, unexpected challenges, and a steep learning curve, it’s a constant mix of exhaustion and excitement.
Living off-grid and building a house myself means nothing ever goes perfectly, but it always moves forward. The foundation is taking shape, and for the first time, I can actually start to see the home I’ve been dreaming of.
