From my and one of my best friends here’s personal experience. (1) it is a well-known scam among Thai women that you can fairly easily get a foreign man (“Farang” as they call us) to build a house of their land, (2) they know we can’t own it, (3) they know we do not understand their cultures or laws and are easily deceived on these points, (3) even if we are careful and get a lawyer and insist on having our name on the title work they can, on their own, go to the local land office and request our name be removed.
