This week I start building the critical SECOND LAYER of the log cabin walls - this involves a brilliant drill + spiking technique shared with me by one of Ontario's most experienced professional log home builders. It's my first time trying it and if it doesn't work on the second level, it's not going to work on levels 3 through 12! And I did hit a potentially major snag. My matte black steel roof arrives next week so I MUST make this second level work so I can hammer out most of the remaining levels next week. My IRISH WOLFHOUND puppy that is arriving in January MUST HAVE A ROOF AND HEATING!

MERRY CHRISTMAS YA FILTHY ANIMALS!

I quit my job and left the big city of Toronto to move onto 40-acres of Canadian wilderness with a magical river. I am building an off-grid homestead with multiple cabins and structures from the timber on the land. I may have made a huge mistake as doing this at the start of Winter may make general construction difficult if not impossible.
