Reusing Brick Waste on an Abandoned House | BUILD OUR COUNTRYSIDE | Ep 22

In Episode 22 of Build Our Countryside, we take advantage of a few extra weekdays to make massive progress on both our heavy infrastructure and the fine details of our abandoned $1,000 house.
We start by picking up our custom windowsills from my father-in-law, Serhiy. They’ve been perfectly sanded and sealed with 5 to 7 layers of matte varnish. After a midnight harvest in our dark garden, we jump straight into hard labor at dawn.

Here’s what we tackle in this episode:

The Hand-Built Caisson: Tamping the earth and laying salvaged bricks from the old chicken coop to build our underground water filtration tank, finished with a waterproofing coat.

The Grouting Marathon: Spending hours on the tedious, precise task of grouting the tiny tiles on our masonry stove.

Installing the Willow: Custom fitting, leveling, and securing our massive handmade willow windowsills into the old walls.

The Improvised Grill: Building a quick brick BBQ to cook meat and vegetables over open fire.

Reclaiming the Path: Cutting down invasive maple trees in the yard and clearing the dried roadside brush, expanding the choked-up village road from a tight 2 meters back to its original 7-meter width.

We end the long week with a reflective drive home under a sky full of circling birds, remembering that the difficult journey itself is often the true reward.
