Blackstone Mortgage Trust Collapsing After Deep Losses Exposed in Real Estate Loan Portfolio

The US Real Estate market continues to crash, commercial real estate's All Property Price Index is now down over -22%. Which means all the real estate investors who have either floating rate loans, or loans getting ready to mature, are going to be looking at minimum 300 basis points higher in interest.
One company above the rest that stands out is Blackstone, specifically Blackstone Mortgage Trust, their Real Estate Investment Trust, which is smaller than their popular BREIT, but in a world of financial trouble. After a new research paper was published by a premier research firm this week, that warns about Blackstone's Mortgage REIT being completely wiped out.
This extends beyond just financial difficulty for Blackstone, as pensioners, retirement services, endowments all use Blackstone to invest their money.
