It’s boat building video time. This custom-built aluminium boat will be the first of its kind. It has been designed with the main purpose of getting keen land-based fishermen on and off the rocks in hard-to-reach, secluded land-based fishing spots around New Zealand.
Before the boat building can start, firstly, the boat is designed using a computer program, once completed the design gets put into a C and C router machine to create a “flat-pack”. The C and C machine does 99% of the cutting leaving tags in place to keep the aluminium sheets intact. The last of the cutting is done by hand to create the individual pieces of the boat. These pieces are then put through a folding machine. All the folding work is completed before the boat building process starts. Folding the parts creates a series of 3D jigsaw pieces, which are assembled together using an aluminium welder, then the boat building can start and a boat is born!

Welcome to The Lateral Line, an online fishing show presented by Milan Radonich and Nathan O’Hearn, 2 best mates better described as brothers. They both have a genuine love and respect for everything that New Zealand's outdoors has to offer.
The Lateral Line is all about being out in the wide open spaces with good mates, for days at a time, soaking in New Zealand’s beautiful scenery, laughing out loud, and having as much fun as possible while trying to catch something to cook and eat. Throw in a few big Yellowtail Kingfish and the odd big Snapper and the boys are living their best lives.
Milan and Nathan have been fishing together for over 15 years and had always dreamed about having a custom-built boat that would suit them and their fishing style perfectly. Danye at Marco Boats in their hometown Morrinsville has quite literally made that dream a reality. He took all the ideas the boys had and built a boat with the model name Sojourn. Sojourn meaning “a short stay”.
Subscribe to the channel for bi-monthly (15th and 30th) fishing adventure, full of good food, and stunning landscapes with a couple of good mates having lots of laughs while fishing.
