We’re back in the Canadian bush, building our off-grid cabin deep in Northern Ontario. After months of planning, Becca joins me for two full weeks to push this project forward—hauling plywood, raising walls, and getting ready for the heavy timbers that will form the cabin’s loft. It’s her first time back on the land in over a year, and together we’re learning, adapting, and pushing through every challenge the wilderness throws our way.
This episode includes:
-Driving the Argo down a freshly built corduroy road
-Hauling plywood by raft across the river
-Raising and sheathing the cabin walls
-Becca overcoming her fears of the wild and jumping head-first into the build
-Lessons from locals on milling wood and the secrets of plywood
For us, Off Grid Engineering is about more than just building a cabin. It’s about sweat, perseverance, and community—balancing cost, speed, and quality while living life to the fullest. Whether you’re dreaming of your own cabin, starting a garden, or just curious about off-grid life, we hope this inspires you.
