This has been one of the most intense building projects we've ever tackled. Between the weather, my rookie mistakes, and the pressure of the approaching winter, there were moments I wasn't sure we'd make it. But with determination, family teamwork, and help from new friends, we're getting it done one rafter at a time.
The truth about homesteading in Alaska? It's not easy. But when you're racing winter, building with your family, and watching sandhill cranes fly overhead while fireweed seeds drift through the air—it's worth every hard moment.
