Named the FRAME Awards 2022 House of the Year, the Flowing Garden house provides separate residences for two families organized around a central biophilic courtyard.
Built for two brothers and their families, the Flowing Garden house combines separate living spaces and shared leisure space for the multi-family home. Designed by More Than Arch Studio, the home is organized a central courtyard which serves as a natural division between each of the family spaces. The outdoor space also provides a green area and serves as a natural coolant for the home, which is located in the warm climate of southeastern China. Combined living spaces occupy the ground floor of the structure, housing space for shared public activities. The building is made constructed mostly from poured fair-faced concrete, but wood and plant life are applied amply throughout.
